Cup Match against Great Chart. Supposed to be a quarter final, but due to two of the other teams in our league forfeiting their cup matches it turns out it was a Semi-final. Unfortunately we were short on players yet again fielding only 10 to the oppositions full plus subs. Not a brilliant start to the match, but you soon picked up the game and started displaying that Hoppers spirit. This showed in the way you played and kept your heads up despite Great Chart hammering goals past you. Shortly before half time you showed what you were made of  when Ryan made a run and scored a great goal. A bit of a change round at half time which seemed to throw Great Chart a bit as they had made a change round to cover our positions of the first half...lol...  Everyone seemed to get even better in this half with Jamie coming along and giving us our second goal of the match. Unfortunately, again with no subs we could not bring on fresh legs to releive tired ones, but you STILL kept battling on and spent a fair amount of time in their half with Ryan coming exremely close to scoring another 2. (Must have been a divet in the ground that knocked the ball 2 inches to the right of the goal both times). Final score around 11-2 (I think!). But, a fantastic effort and a great show of what you have learned. Really getting it together now.

Parents Man of The Match - Ryan for a fantastic game with2 (nearly 4) goals and also Callum for the effort shown through the whole game.

Managers Man of the Match - Joe Toombs for great defending throughout and Harry for once again stepping into goal for us and making some fantastic saves against a stronger side..

OVERALL A BRILLIANT GAME BOYS. THESE OPPOSITION TEAMS ARE NO LONGER HAVING AN EASY TIME OF IT WITH YOU OUT THERE! KEEP ON FIGHTING AND NEXT SEASON WE WILL BE BACK STRONGER THAN EVER......AVE IT!!!!!!

13th March 2010

Finally able to play our away match to Smarden (final league match of the season). Only 9 players again, but every one of them with true Hoppers spirit. There was no messing about or bad attitudes. Smarden are 2nd in this division so we did not expect a brilliant result.  However, our lads managed to hold Smarden at 3-0 right up to half time. Unfortunately, as we were low on players our lads did get tired and this led to a few more goals against them. Great passing from all the team for the whole match, in fact great teamwork all round lads.

Final score, a not unreasonable 10-0 to Smarden.

As all played so well the Man of The Match went to 4 players this week. Harry Thorpe for great goalkeeping, Joe Toombs and Andy for great defending and Ryan Thomas for his constant energy.

WELL DONE LADS! JUST CUP MATCH TO PLAY NOW. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMITTMENT THROUGHOUT THIS SEASON. ITS NOT BEEN EASY BUT YOU ALL STUCK WITH IT AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN NEXT SEASON WITH SOME FRESH LEGS JOINING US TOO.

20th February 2010

Away to Ashford Town. Only 9 players this week. A new goalkeeper Rhys Haywood kindly loaned to us by the Under 13s as Dan Price no longer with us.  No expectations with this game as Ashford Town are top of the league. All players who were present put in a good effort against the toughest team with some great goal keeping by Rhys.

Not sure of final Score as conflicting numbers from the officials. Have to see what is sent to the League.

Parents Man of The Match - Rhys Haywood Unanymous decision.

Managers Man Of The Match - Dan Hawkins Improving with every match Dan.

THATS THE LAST TIME WE HAVE TO FACE THEM THIS SEASON LADS. ONE MORE MATCH TO GO THEN ITS ALL OVE TILL THE CUP IN APRIL! KEEP THOSE HEADS UP LADS.

6th February 2010

At home against Smarden.  Unfortunately only only 8 players on the field today. Thought it was going to be a day without Hoppers Spirit, but Smarden were sportsmen and brought their numbers down to 9 on the field which was very much appreciated.  Thanks Harry for being goalie in the first half. Great job. A big well done to Lee who played through the whole match with a bad back and spent the second half in goal. Some great saves despite the back problem. Smarden scored first after 20 minutes then a further goal making it 2-0 to them at the half time whistle.  Our boys kept their heads up and soon Tom put one in for us Hoppers bringing it up to 2-1. Unfortunately, Smarden could see that Lee was suffering in goal and used that to their advantage scoring more and more. However, Lee continued to do more excellent saves. Overall a very well played game with effort being put in from ALL players. Hard to pick the Man Of The Match Winners Today.

Final score 12-1 to Smarden. (Not a bad score considering lack of players and injuries!)

Managers and Parents Man of The Match ended up going to 4 players. Lee Mills for fighting on despite his pain. Dan Hawkins for his constant pressure on the opposition, Joe Toombs for excellent defending and Tom McIntyre for running everywhere he could to cover for the missing players and scoring our only goal.

DONT BE DISHEARTENDED BY THIS SCORE BOYS. YOU ALL DID YOUR BEST UNDER TOUGH CONDITIONS!  KEEP IT UP!!

23rd January 2010

At home against Park Farm Rangers. Full side plus 2 subs. Firstly welcome back to Callum Carpenter and PJ Higgs. Rather a damp, soggy day.  Great start with Ryan scoring the first goal 15 minutes in. Park Farm levelled up a minute later, so both teams evenly matched. Unfortunately  a penalty was given to Park Farm 5 mins later which they scored from and then a further goal another 5 minutes later. Score at half time 3-1 to Park Farm.  Into the second half a little despondant. Another scored by Park Farm, but then along comes Lee up the far side, a great pass to Ryan who followed it through for his second goal of the match. Sadly, this was the best we could manage and Park Farm won this match, although we had several more opportunites and a few near misses which could, with a little luck have given a better score line.  There were four real contenders for the Man of the Match trophies Dan Price, Andy Moore, Joe Toombs and Ryan Thomas.

Final score 9-2 to Park Farm Rangers

Parents Man Of The Match - Dan Price (Great game Dan - Well Done!)

Managers Man of The Match - Andy Moore (Brilliant defending!)

STILL KEEPING THAT SCORE LINE IN SINGLE FIGURES - SHOWS HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME THIS SEASON. KEEP IT GOING GUYS!

12th December 2009

At home against Woodchurch Wanderers.  Full side, no subs. Every player came out raring to go with full Hoppers Spirit. Absolutely brilliant first half, a few opportunities on both sides going into the break at 0-0 draw.  A very evenly matched pair of teams with Woodchurch having to fight from the start after our win last time againts them. Still evenly matched through first part of 2nd half until Woodchurch scored a lucky one 20 minutes in. A head or two went down but with encouragement from supproters and management team they soon picked up and kept going. More equal play then, a wonderful equaliser from Tom 10 minutes later, which brought us back into the running. A few more opportunities, but no more goals from either side.

Final Score, a FANTASTICO 1-1 DRAW.

Parents Man of the Match - Joe Toombs - Great Defending lad

Managers Man of the Match - Lewis Ostridge - You're really showing what u can do now lad

ANOTHER SCORE TO BE VERY PROUD OF LADS. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

5th December 2009

At home against Great Chart.  Only 10 players this week again. Fantastic start to 1st half holding Great Chart to 0-0 for the first 20 minutes using everything you have been learning and practicing lately.  Unfortunately, 3 goals were conceded in the next 5 minutes.  Then a great goal from Jamie at 28 mins takes it to 3-1 to Great Chart.  You kept your heads up and the pressure on thereby holding them to this score right up to the half time whistle.  You kept that pressure up into the second half but unfortunatley Great Chart then scored their 4th goal 5 mins in. Then a silly foul in our area gave Lee a chance with a penalty which he duly shot past their keeper 2 mins later taking the score to 4-2 to Great Chart.  You still held them to that for a further 15 minutes. But then with 20 minutes left Great Chart scored again and some of our players gave up and despite a lot of effort by the others we conceded a further 6 goals.  Not an easy game as with only 10 players there were no fresh legs to bring on as the lads got tired later in second half. Final score, an unfortunate 11-2 to Great Chart, but overall a brilliant effort by the Hoppers. A big thanks to Harry for standing in as goal keeper and very well done.

Parents Man of the Match - Joe Radley

Managers Man of the Match - Dan Hawkins

A TIRING MATCH BUT VERY WELL PLAYED. KEEP IT UP AND REMEMBER WHAT YOUVE LEARNED.

21st November 2009

Away to Park Farm Rangers. Full team plus 1 sub. Oh dear, lads not a good match today. You must have left your Hoppers Spirit under your pillows today. This was a chance to get your second win of the season and you didnt take it. With Park Farm scoring in the opening seconds it did not bode well for the Hoppers. Then a further two left us 3-0 down at half time.  Half time talk improved things slightly but still the spirit was missing. A further 3 against us looked like it would be a 6-0 finish.  Then, much to everyones surprise and pleasure Joe Radley took a chance from outside the area and blasted a goal past Park Farm in the closing minute of the game, closely followed by Harry Thorpe running down the wing and crossing another one in from near the corner. Final score 6-2 to Park Farm.

Parents Man of the Match - Andy Moore

Managers Man of the Match - Joe Radley

COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER BUT STILL AN IMPROVEMENT ON THE LAST MATCH AGAINST PARK FARM. PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING THAT HOPPERS SPIRIT WITH YOU NEXT MATCH LADS!

14th November 2009

Home against Smarden (Match postponed by Smarden due to lack of players

Dont worry lads we will thrash them later in the season!!!

7th November 2009

AVE IT!!

Away to Woodchurch Wanderers.  Full team plus 1 Sub.   Hoppers spirit 100% all the way through!. Excellent start with Harry scoring first goal of the match within first minute, closely followed by another from Tom in 8th minute. Woodchurch got one back at 10 mins, only for Lee to pass to Tom for his second bringing score to 3-1 at 12 mins. Woodchurch valiantly fought back with two more in the next 5 mins bringing them level until Ryan knocked one in at 24th min very closely followed by Jamie in 27th min. Again Woodchurch really trying and brought score to 5-4 (Hoppers) just before half time whistle.  Then 5 mins into half time Woodchurch draw level again. Scary stuff. Hoppers soon pulled away again with Lee scoring 6 mins into 2nd half then Tom getting his hat trick 2 mins later. A nail biting time for the next 12 mins until Woodchurch got another bringing score to 7-6 to the Hoppers. Thought it was gonna be a draw when Woodchurch scored again with 5 mins to go, but goal dissallowed due to a pushing incident.

 FINAL SCORE -  HOPPERS U14s 7 - 6 Woodchurch Wanderers.

Parents Man of the Match - Lee Mills (set up 3 and scored 1)

Managers Man of the Match - Tom McIntyre (Hat trick)

BEST GAME EVER. WE BEEN TELLING YOU THAT YOU CAN DO IT, NOW YOU PROVED IT TO YOURSELVES.  LET THAT BE THE FIRST OF MANY WINS GUYS!

31st October 2009

Away to Great Chart. Managed a full team this week but not enough for any substitutions. More Hoppers spirit on show this week. First goal to Great Chart but then a leveller by Ryan. Was looking very promising but then they spotted our weakened defence (again due to illness/injury) meaning we had several players in unfamiliar positions, and with their very strong front line managed to pull away ahead quite considerably. Despite this Ryan did manage another 2 shots on target before the half time whistle but unfortunately they did not make it to the back of the net.  Energy levels flagging considerably through second half but with no subs there was nothing to be done about that. Great Chart still scoring more in second half but again Ryan put a second one in for us and there were 4 or 5 more attempts on target too.  With Dan away this week Lee took over in goal and what a fantastic job he did.  Final score 15-2 to Great Chart which does not sound good but you all played and deserved better than that.

Parents Man of the Match - Unanimously - Lee Mills

Managers Man of the Match - Andy Moore

A GOOD GAME. WELL DONE LADS.  KEEP THOSE HEADS UP. IT IS COMING TOGETHER!

24th October 2009

Away to Ashford Town. A catchup match for the one postponed at the start of the season. Not the best match. Only 10 men this week. Morale was low and due to a few missing players there were some who had to play in unfamiliar positions which did not help.  Wet and dull weather added to the lack of players put a real dampener on that Hoppers Spirit which seemed to have been left at home by some players.  However, on the good side, some great improvement shown by Callum, Andy and Joe Radley and a great effort by the majority of the players.

Final score an unfortunate 14-0 to Ashford Town.  Come on guys you know you can do better than that as you showed last week with only 9 players.

Parents Man of the Match - Callum Carpenter

Managers Man of the Match - Harry Thorpe

BRING BACK THAT SPIRIT LADS! YOU CAN DO IT!  AVE IT!

17th October 2009

Home against Ashford Town.  Blindin' game!.  Only 9 players this week due to illness and injury.  We were expecting to go back to the rugby style scores. 5 minutes in Tom McIntyre scored first goal of the match which left Ashford Town stunned. They soon picked up their game, but our lads pressured them from start to finish with true Hopper spirit shining through. Unfortunately our regular keeper was unable to attend due to illness and we had to bring one of our midfielders into goal, but great job Harry.  Well done to Joe Radley for coming so close to scoring a further 2 goals in the second half.

Final score 10-1 to Ashford town, but again they had to fight REALLY hard to win it.

Parents Man of The Match and Managers Man of The Match.  Could not call this one so it had to go to all players who attended. Joe Toombs, Andy Moore, Lee Mills, Jason Gill, Tom McIntyre, Dan Hawkins, Ryan Thomas, Joe Radley, Harry Thorpe.

KEEP THIS HOPPERS SPIRIT GOING LADS! YOU ARE SHOWING THEM ALL THAT YOU WILL NOT BE WALKED OVER!

10th October 2009

Home against Park Farm Rangers.  What a game, well done lads. An absolutely brilliant start to the game with a shot within the first 5 minutes.  The enthusiasm and effort was fantasticwith great team play.  You held them off for the first 20 minutes.Still held them to only 2-0 till just before half time when they took it to 3-0.  Some great goal kicks from PJ getting the ball away well. Andy, Joe T, Jason and Dan Hawkins working very well. Tom had some brilliant run ups towards the goal but unfortunately had no one there to help a lot of the time but still managed 2 goals early in the second half .  A great effort from Lee who was struggling with an injury and a great job done by Harry up front in first half then moved to defense in second without complaint. A special thanks to Ryan for coming along half way through second half after having just played a match for his school.  A previous knee injury was obviously playing up but still he gave has all. Callum is showing massive improvement all the time and giving it everything.  A very tough one to decide who deserved the Man Of The Match this week for all the right reasons.

Final score 8-2 to Park Farm, but they REALLY had to fight for that win.

Parents Man Of The Match - Tom McIntyre

Managers Man of The Match - Dan Price-Collins (Saved a Massive 36 goals!)

GREAT HOPPERS SPIRIT SHOWN TODAY LADSHOPPERS DO AVE IT!!!!!

3rd October 2009

Away game against Smarden.  Well, what can I say?  A very poor show from most of the team all through the first half.  Where was the effort and enthusiasm you have shown durin training and in the last match?  After a half time talk, a bit more effort was shown durin the second half when Joe Radley had two shots at goal and the defenders showed what they could do on the goal line near the end of the match.   Only two players showed consistant effort throughout the whole game and became the two chosen for the man of the match trophies.

YOU know you CAN do it, WE know you CAN do it, but ONLY if you come in with the right attitude and put in the effort as a TEAM. Three key words to take into future matches are EFFORT, ENTHUSIASM and BELIEF.  We dont want to see you letting yourselves, each other and Grasshoppers down like this in future games as we all know you can do better.

Final score 10-0 to Smarden.

Parents Man of the Match - Tom McIntyre

Managers Man of the Match - Dan Hawkins

Come on lads, heads up, bring it back, show 'em what you are REALLY made of!!

26th September 2009

Home match against Woodchurch Wanderers(formerly Rolvenden). After a dodgy start conceding two silly goals early on  the lads really picked up their game and put the pressure on Woodchurch. Some brilliant play with 6 shots (4 on target). All players showing great improvement, Jason Gill in particular. Scoreline at half time only 2-0 down.  Unfortunately a poor start to the second half conceded a further 4 goals. Then 20 minutes into second half a penalty from Tom Mcintyre gave us our first goal with a score of 6-1. Then after another against us Ryan Thomas did a great run down the right getting past their defenders and passed the ball to Lee Mills, who saw his chance, took it and wallopped the ball past their keeper for the best goal of the season so far.Great teamwork you two.  Score now at 7-2. Unfortunately 3 more conceded for a final score of 10-2 to Woodchurch Wanderers. This could have been a lot worse had it not been for some fantastic saves by Dan. Despite this score, even the oppositions mangers and supporters commented that they could see a massive improvement in you all so thats high praise indeed.

Parents Man of the Match - Very well deserved Jason Gill

Managers Man of the Match - Tom McIntyre

Very well done all, its coming together now, dont give up!

19th September 2009

Home match against Great Chart FC.  A fantastic first half  with the Hoppers looking the stronger and most likely to be first to score.  Then Great Chart scored a great goal and 1 minute before half time an unfortunate own goal which may not have happened if a bad tackle had not left our Keeper injured . So only 2-0 down at the whistle. The keeper struggled on at the start of the second half but it soon became obvious after conceding a couple more goals that he needed to come off. This really lowered team morale. However, the lads kept going and there were some superb performances from Tom (Captain), Ryan (Forward), Andy (Defence) and Joe T (Sub Goalie). If not for Joe, there would have been at least 3 or 4 more goals conceded near the end of the second half. Final score was 9-0 to Great Chart which is a vast improvement on last seasons performance.

Parents Man of The Match - Ryan Thomas

Managers Man of The Match - Andy Moore

Very well played all of you! and keep up the great work!!

11TH September 2009

Brand new kit arrived today.

We would be having our first match of the season tomorrow, but due to the opponents having pitch problems it has had to be postponed till later in the season.

See you all at training next wednesday lads and remember to bring any old kits you have with you which we will replace with your brand new kit.

5th September 2009

Today we had a friendly match against Ashford Borough Colts (Under 15's) team which was played at The Ridge.

As the Colts are older and in the Mush League, their experience and style showed in their play. However, our lads team-play and spririt, along with their can-do attitude helped to ensure it was by no means an easy win for the Colts. They had to work for it.

In conclusion, if the Hoppers continue to play in the coming season with the same enthusiasm and spirit they showed in this match then we say "Watch out opposition     The Hoppers are Coming!!"

Parents Man of the Match was Daniel Price Collins

Managers Man of the Match was Joe Toombs

Well done to you all! Keep up the good work!
